The Swedish ice hockey champions (Swedish: Svenska mästare i ishockey) is a title awarded annually to the winning playoff team of the top-tier ice hockey league in Sweden, which currently is the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) since It was first awarded to IK Göta in , the championship's inaugural year.[1] The championship's present SHL format did not take into effect until the league was originally formed for the –76 season under the name of Elitserien.[1] A team who wins the Swedish Championship is awarded the Le Mat Trophy. Djurgårdens IF holds the most titles in history with 16 titles, but Brynäs IF is the most successful current SHL team with 13 championship titles. The most recent Swedish Champions are Skellefteå AIK, who won their fourth title in club history in
Before , the Swedish champions were determined through a standalone tournament, the Swedish Ice Hockey Championship, where teams could submit their participation. In other words, the leagues were not connected with the Swedish Championship during this period. Between and , the winner was decided through matches between the winners of Division 1 Norra

Elitserien i ishockey /
Elitserien i ishockey / spelades 20 september till 1 mars och hade 50 omgångar i grundserien. Lag 1–8 till SM-slutspel, lag 9– kvar i Elitserien men inget SM-slutspel. Lag 11–12 till nedflyttningskval. SM-slutspelet avgjordes i bäst av sju matcher. I seriespelet fick vinnande lag 3 poäng. Vid oavgjort 1 poäng fick lagen ett poäng var och matchen gick vidare till förlängning. Vinst i förlängningen gav ytterligare ett poäng. Frölunda HC vann serien och blev dessutom svenska mästare efter seger mot Färjestads BK i SM-finalspelet. Säsongen präglades av den arbetsmarknadskonflikt som ledde till inställd NHL-säsong. Klubbar i Sverige kunde därmed värva NHL-spelare, precis som säsongen /

Elitserien i sport med puck och skridskor /
Elitserien inom ishockey / spelades 26 september mot 6 mars och ägde 50 rundor i grundserien. Lag 1–8 till SM-slutspel, lag 9– kvar inom Elitserien dock inget SM-slutspel. Lag 11–12 till nedflyttningskval. SM-slutspelet avgjordes i bäst av sju matcher. Seger = 3 poäng. Oavgjort = 1 poäng. negativt resultat = 0 poäng. profit i förlängning = + 1 poäng. HV71 vann serien, dock Färjestads BK blev svenska mästare efter seger mot Frölunda HC i SM-finalspelet.
Förlopp
[redigera | redigera wikitext]- I Färjestads spelartrupp som blev svenska mästare ingick bland annat backen Per Hållberg som beneath de sju föregående säsongerna spelat 6 SM-finalserier (3 med Modo Hockey samt 3 tillsammans Färjestad) samt varit vid den förlorande sidan inom samtliga.
- Jörgen Jönsson, Färjestad, blev den inledande och hittills enda spelare i världen som äger vunnit OS-guld, VM-guld samt SM-guld identisk säsong.[2]
