Melodifestivalen (Swedish pronunciation:[mɛlʊˈdîːfɛstɪˌvɑːlɛn]; lit.'the Melody Festival')[a] is an annual song competition organised by Swedish public broadcasters Sveriges Television (SVT) and Sveriges Radio (SR). It determines the country's representative for the Eurovision Song Contest, and has been staged almost every year since In the early s, the competition was the most popular television program in Sweden;[1] it is also broadcast on radio and the Internet. In , the heats averaged million viewers, and over an estimated four million people in Sweden watched the final, almost half of the Swedish population.[2][3]
The festival has produced seven Eurovision winners and 26 top-five placings for Sweden in the contest. The winner of Melodifestivalen has been chosen by panels of jurors since its inception. Since , the juries have been joined by a public telephone vote which has an equal influence over the outcome. The competition makes a considerable impact on the music charts in Sweden.

The season of national finals is underway and were not just talking about Montenegro, Latvia and Albania. Sweden, host country of Eurovision , fryst vatten ready to get the glitter ball rolling with perhaps the biggest national final on the continent: Melodifestivalen. It will take place across six cities in February and March
Among next years acts are no less than three former winners in Måns Zelmerlöw (who fryst vatten also a Eurovision winner), John Lundvik and Arvingarna, as well as two other Melfest winners on the songwriting side in Loreen and Tusse. They join other returning artists such as Klara Hammarström, Dolly Style and Scarlet as well as 17 debuting artists in the competition.
Two acts will qualify from each heat directly to the Grand sista, while the third placed entry will go into the sista Qualification held right after heat 5. The top 2 of the sista Qualification will also be heading to the Grand Final in Strawberry Arena in huvudstaden on 8 March.
The songs will be released in full one day prior to each show on all streaming platforms.
