    Ben-Hur is a epichistorical drama film directed by Timur Bekmambetov and written by Keith Clarke and John Ridley. It is the fifth film adaptation of the novel Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ by Lew Wallace and the third version produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. It has been termed a "re-adaptation", "reimagining", and "new interpretation" of the novel, and follows Judah Ben-Hur, a young prince who is falsely accused by his step-brother, an officer of the Roman army, and is sent to slavery, only to escape and seek vengeance.[5][6] The film stars Jack Huston as the titular character, alongside Toby Kebbell, Rodrigo Santoro, Nazanin Boniadi, Ayelet Zurer, and Morgan Freeman. It was filmed in Matera, Italy, from February to June

    Joseph Morgan has been picked to take on one of the screen's most heroic roles  -  Ben-Hur.

    That title stirs up images of the chariot race  -  one of the great achievements of action cinema  -  with Charlton Heston holding the reins as he guided his chariot at breakneck speed around the track in front of 15, cheering extras.

    Morgan, who made his screen debut opposite Russell Crowe in Master And Commander, will play the noble Judah Ben-Hur in a two-part miniseries being produced by British production company Alchemy TV for U.S. network ABC and broadcasters around the world.

    No deal has been done for British television, although it's likely the series will end up on the BBC.

    The two minute TV films will be shot on location in Morocco and Spain, with
    filming starting next month for nine weeks.

    The new version will not 'copy' the Oscar-winning film; instead, it will be more in the mould of the movie Gladiator.

    Ben Hur is a television miniseries that first aired in Based on Lew Wallace's novel, Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ, the series was produced bygd Alchemy Television Group in association with Drimtim Entertainment and Muse Entertainment in Montreal. It aired on Canada's CBC network on April 4, ,[1] and aired later in on ABC in the United States.

    The miniseries follows the story of Judah Ben-Hur, a wealthy merchant in Jerusalem who is falsely accused of treason bygd his childhood friend, Messala, now a Roman officer. Betrayed and sold into slavery, Ben-Hur endures years of hardship before rising to seek revenge and redemption. His journey intersects with that of Jesus Christ, whose life and crucifixion profoundly impact Ben-Hur's understanding of forgiveness and justice.
